Modern Workplace Tools: Slack

You’ve told us that staying current with modern workplace tools is vital to compete in today’s workplace. We gathered some great “getting started” videos of our favorite tools as well as a simple course to learn Zoom.
We’re partnering with Age Without Borders, and Startup Decoder to build out courses and video guides around topics related to work after 50 and financial health.
Here we introduce Slack, then GSuite (including Google Docs) and then a quick tutorial on using the video platform Zoom.

Slack
We hear a lot of push-back and questions about what value Slack brings to the workplace. Consider these key ideas.
- Conversations are “in context” – they live within a subject “Channel” or between an individual or a group.
- Cuts your email load considerably as many quick decisions can be made in one-on-one chats.
- You can embed files and url’s unfurl right within the chat window.
- Available on desktop and mobile

Team Chat & Channels | Slack Features
Keep your team and work organized, focused and moving forward using Channels in Slack. Channels are virtual spaces where you can chat and share information with everyone on a project or team.
Video Conferencing | Slack Features
Voice and video calls in Slack make it easy for your team to collaborate online no matter where everyone is located. Launch calls from any conversation using Slack Calls.
Document & File Sharing | Slack Features
Easily share files with your team directly in Slack or use your favorite tool like Google Drives, and DropBox. Files in Slack are not only searchable but also give your team context on the discussion about the document.
