Elizabeth White chronicles her high-wire financial survival in her book “55, Unemployed and Faking Normal.” With all the right credentials, work history, and education her plight came as much a surprise to her as to her professional colleagues. She observed the security she was accustomed to suddenly disappear.
Her story resonates with many of our readers. We are delighted to have her join us for our event in Washington DC next week.
In this TED talk you see her strength, intelligence, and fortitude.
As she says in this PBS segment.
Early 50s is not considered young in the workplace.
This is, to me, where the age discrimination piece happens. I find it much harder at this phase of life to get hired than I did earlier.
We’re delighted that Ms. White will join us to contribute honestly to this uncomfortable conversation.
